Gift of Hope - It's not
just for the Holidays its available year round |
|
Gift of Hope offers you
the opportunity all year round to make a gift in honor or memory
of loved ones, friends, neighbors and colleagues. When you make
a Gift of Hope contribution to support the work of The Ark, a
card is sent to the recipient to acknowledge your gift.
A Gift of Hope is a very
special remembrance any time of the year.
During the holidays
this gift will perfectly express the spirit of giving.
People love gifts, but you can provide an even greater gift—an
enduring one of hope. Give the Gift of Hope this holiday
season with a direct donation to The Ark in celebration of a
relative, friend or colleague. In return The Ark will send
a beautiful card of acknowledgement to each person on your list
letting them know that you have chosen to distinguish him or her
through your gift to The Ark.
In
2007, $32,000 was donated for Gift of Hope. It helped:
47 families stay in their home
95 families to keep their utilities on
32 people to ride the bus to medical
appointments and to work
342 people with their prescription
medications
516 individuals & families blessed with
Hope

Entree of Hope - It's more than a meal ... It's Caring and
Giving |
On the last Tuesday in April
community restaurants unite in joining Entree of Hope
to provide much needed financial
support for the work of The Ark and the Athens Area
Emergency Food Bank. Participating restaurants
will donate 10% of the days gross sales. Money
raised will enable The Ark to continue to provide
financial assistance for rent, utilities and
prescription
medicine for individuals and families in need and the
Athens Area Emergency Food Bank to provide a week's
worth of groceries (a value of $125) for a family of
four, four times a year.
If you
are unable to dine out on but would like to
support this cause in helping those in need, you can mail a
tax-deductible contribution to

The Ark
Annual
Fellowship Golf Challenge will be held on August
9, 2008.
The challenge
is a 4 person Lauderdale. Registration opens at 7:30 am with a
shotgun start at 8:30 am. The registration fee is $100 per person.
Don’t golf, don’t worry – you can still help in
several ways. Several levels of sponsorships are
available. Donated prizes are also being accepted.
Volunteers are needed to help on the day of the event.
All proceeds will benefit
The Ark.
A unique feature of our golf tournament is the
Congregation Challenge, a friendly congregational
competition among our supporting congregations.
We invite our supporting congregations to encourage
their congregation golfers to register to play in the
tournament. The congregation with the most
golfers the day of the event will be awarded a
handsome trophy to display at their church for a year.
Each year the winning congregation's name and year
will be added to the trophy. |

Christmas In July |
|
We realize that no one is thinking about Christmas
when the temper atures
are rising, children are out of school, and families
are packing for vacations. It is important to remember
that our less fortunate neighbors and families require
a commitment that stretches beyond a particular
holiday or season. Financial emergencies know no
season and occur at any time throughout the year.

Holiday Benevolence Mart |
|
The Holiday Benevolence Mart is an opportunity to
learn about area resources and, more importantly, a
way to support the Athens area by giving holiday
gifts. This is a wonderful event for Sunday School
classes to visit and learn about sharing with those in
need. As an alternative to traditional holiday
shopping, you select symbolic gifts to give to
friends, relatives, teachers, etc. For example, a
“shopper” might purchase a $3 bus ticket for a
‘neighbor’ to get to a job interview. |
